A common, progressive joint condition that causes pain, swelling, and reduced mobility. If you’ve been struggling with joint stiffness or discomfort in your knees, especially during movement or after rest, you may qualify to participate.
What is Knee Osteoarthritis?
Knee OA occurs when the cartilage in the knee joint gradually wears down, leading to:
- Pain during movement or after periods of inactivity
- Swelling or tenderness around the knee
- Stiffness, especially in the morning or after sitting
- Difficulty walking, climbing stairs, or squatting
- Cracking or popping sounds in the joint
OA is more common in older adults, but can affect individuals at any age — especially those with previous knee injuries, excess weight, or a family history of arthritis.
You may be eligible if you:
- Are 40 to 80 years old
- Have had knee pain for at least 6 months
- Have a diagnosis of moderate knee osteoarthritis
- Are not responding well to over-the-counter or current medications
Why Participate in a Knee OA Study?
- Access to investigational treatments that may reduce pain and improve joint function
- No-cost evaluations, including physical exams and imaging
- Help researchers discover better ways to manage osteoarthritis and support joint health
